River Fishing Guides The Umpqua River and Smith River merge just a few miles up river from Winchester Bay. When the Chinook and Coho are making their way to their spawning beds, the fishing action can be ferocious. Thousands of anglers from around the world make their way to the Oregon coast every year for some of that great fishing action. The salmon are the admitted jewels of the Umpqua, however at different points of the year they will take a back seat to steelhead, smallmouth bass, sturgeon and Dungeness crab. There are a number of experienced fishing guides in the area. Our fishing guides are dedicated to their craft and spend endless hours allowing anglers to experience the magic of fishing this wonderful river system. Get away from it all and enjoy a day on the Umpqua River, it's good for the sole and usually good for the table too.
